We all come to terms with our sobriety in different ways. Mine begins with a feckless artist being murdered on the beach and ends with the archetypal be-heading of a biblical monster. Caravaggio is just another name in some cold museum. He died at 39 in 1610 –maybe murdered – and he had spent his last few years on the run from a murder charge.
